When he hit David Cameron in Leeds, a public raised a security alert saying he \"didn\'t know\" that he was the prime minister.
Dean Farley said he only knew he had a collision with Cameron an hour after he was arrested by police.
He insisted that he was \"not particularly political\" and just went out for a jog to the gym during lunch time and suddenly met a group of men in suits.
Mr Cameron\'s understatement of the incident is now the subject of police scrutiny.
After suffering outside Leeds Municipal Hall, Cameron was quickly driven away from the scene.
West Yorkshire Police said the Metropolitan police station, which provided the prime minister with personal security, said it would review the incident.
The Prime Minister launched a government plan to upgrade the Northern England Railway in Leeds.
A member of Cameron\'s security team intervened, and a man appeared to rush to the prime minister.
Then, when the prime minister entered a waiting vehicle, officials tied the man away.
Mr Farley later revealed that he was at the center of the incident, saying he was not a protester and had no idea at all that the prime minister was visiting the city.
\"I didn\'t see David Cameron.
An hour later they put me out of the police car before I knew it was David Cameron, \"said Farley, who was eventually acquitted. The 28-
The year-old said he was going to his local gym for a meeting with his personal trainer as he walked through the road outside the parliament building.
\"I only saw a group of men in suits coming out of the City Hall.
He added: \"This raises the question --
If I manage to run between them before they stop me, how good is Cameron\'s security?
\"Mr. Farley was holding a towel at the time, but did not have an ID card, and he said it was\" distressing \"to find himself\" harassed and rudely treated \"by the police without being told why he was arrested \".
\"I was shocked.
I was almost shocked, like an accident.
The media\'s response to the incident was \"crazy\", he said, adding that many of his friends wanted to buy him a drink and he could see the \"funny side \".
\"I kind of wish I had been protesting something, or I had something to say,\" he added . \".
After the incident, West Yorkshire Police Chief Inspector Derek Hughes said: \"At noon, a 28-year-oldyear-
A local elderly man was briefly arrested after intimate contact with the Prime Minister\'s team who had just left Leeds municipal hall.
\"There was no threat, he was canceled after checking the details of the person
Arrested and allowed on the road
BBC correspondent Tom Symonds said that a member of Cameron\'s party told him that the Prime Minister took a step back and that the man ran to him and did not contact him.
The Prime Minister\'s close security is usually provided by officials from the professional protection department of SO1, which is part of the Metropolitan Police protection command.
Labor MP Keith Vaz said he would be \"surprised\" if there was no review of the procedure \".
He told Sky News, \"it may end up in a completely different scene,\" adding that Farley\'s behavior attracted \"a lot of attention \".
But Peter Power, a former Met official, said that although \"questions\" would be raised about the incident, it was not catastrophic and unlikely to lead to major changes.
He told BBC News that the man was taken away so quickly, suggesting that the police response was \"quite effective \".
But former deputy prime minister Lord Prescott, who beat a protester after being hit by an egg during the 2001 election, said the incident proved that security around top politicians needed to be \"strengthened \".
In a parliamentary statement at last week\'s EU summit, Cameron jokingly mentioned
Called \"Prescott punch\"
He told members of Congress: \"I was actually at a meeting in Leeds with a group of city leaders and other politicians, and when I spoke, John Prescott was in the room.
\"When I left the room, I thought that the most dangerous moment might have passed, but obviously that was not the case.
Cameron says he wants to put on the record the \"debt\" he owes to those who protect him every day, saying they are doing \"very well \".
Less than a week ago, a man threw a bag of marbles at a glass screen that separated the public from the House of Commons.
The incident took place during the prime minister\'s question.
